(Yeah or Yes, but) - a term used for a host of situations; express skepticism about what somebody has just said, confusion or excuse. Commonly used as a stall tactic by a person trying to find an answer to a question - hoping a better answer magically pops into their head. For example: You yell to your parts guy; did you order brakes - we need 'em yesterday? He replies, "Yabut, won't be here till (stall) next month". Is the hauler fueled? "Yabut, (stall) - didn't know your ex-wife had keys. Man, can that women drive!"
You call to order a part - only to be told your account is overdue, no more credit. You reply, (excuse) Yabut, we sent a check last week, didn't you get it? When that doesn't work - used for motivation. "Yabut, doesn't what I spent last year count for anything!"
And of course there's a double Yabut. Sponsor calls, yelling you haven't won all season - "Yabut, yabut, if we had more money, we could at least finish!" So, henceforth, when asking a question, lead with, "...and I don't want any Yabutz". Yabutz encompasses all yabutz. Try it.
